Haiti - Cooperation : Training of teachers and university staff with Spain

Following a virtual meeting between the Ambassador of Haiti in Spain Louis Marie Montfort Saintil and the Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Cooperation of the University, Jorge Elso Torralba, the Public University of Navarre (UPNA) in Spain and the State University of Haiti have initiated contacts to start working on a framework agreement so that the Navarrese university center can collaborate in the training of university teachers and staff of the administration of Haiti, as well as to include Haiti in the UNNA solidarity training program for students.

Regarding the training of teachers, it is proposed that the UPNA participate in the Haitian training program “Relève-Enseignant 2026-2038”, for which the Ambassador has already established contacts with other Spanish universities.

The collaboration between the UPNA and the State University of Haiti would also aim to train officials from different Haitian ministries in the framework of master’s programs taught at the UPNA, in particular in public health and science and technology.

Finally, it is proposed to include Haiti as a destination in the UPNA Solidarity Training mobility program, intended for undergraduate students. Haiti is listed as a priority in the Navarre Cooperation Master Plan 2021-24, presented in January this year by the regional executive.
