Haiti - COVID : The Bahamas extend the ban on travelers coming from or transiting through Haiti

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Bahamas informs that the ban on entering the territory of the Bahamas for travelers directly from Haiti (by air or sea) or transiting through Haiti, is extended from May 12, 2021 for 30 days.

As the Bahamas seeks to manage the spread of the virus within its own borders, the Government, based on advice from health officials, has found it necessary to take this step to prevent risks to nationals and residents of the Bahamas, as well as for visitors, given the lingering uncertainties regarding the management of the pandemic in Haiti.

It is also concerned that the Government of Haiti still has not accepted the Astrazeneca vaccine offered under the World Health Covax Facility, and still has not put an alternative measure for vaccination in place.

Let’s recall that this is the third quarantine imposed on Haiti by the Bahamas since February 15, 2021 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33041-haiti-flashthe-bahamas-put-haiti-in-quarantine.html
