Haiti – Digicel Foundation : Inauguration of 3 new schools
During the month of March 2021, the Digicel Foundation inaugurated 3 new schools : the Community School of La Ruche, the United Brothers College of Ravine Sable and the Presbyteral School of Poirier, bringing the number of schools built in 185.
La Ruche Community School (Central Dept.) :
Inaugurated on March 18 and located in Lascahobas, the Ruche Community School has benefited from a new building comprising 11 classrooms, an administration, a sanitary block, a warehouse, a fence, a kitchen and two playgrounds. Among other things, the school enjoys the support of Sommets Éducation (Zanmi Lasante), an institution working to strengthen the education sector in rural areas in Haiti, for which the Foundation has already built 21 schools in the Center.
United Brothers College of Ravine Sable (South Dept.) :
Considered to be one of the oldest schools in Ravine Sable, the College Frères Unis serves approximately 500 students from this community. The parents, the notables of the area and the students were present on March 24 to attend the inauguration of the 6 new rooms, a sanitary block, an administrative block, a playground and as well as old buildings that have been renovated. This 184th construction is being carried out at the request of Hope For Haiti, which has worked in the country for more than 20 years and which shares the vision of the Digicel Foundation with regard to education.
The Presbyteral School of Poirier (Dept. of Artibonite) :
To close this series of inaugurations, the Digicel Foundation in the presence of a very involved community, proceeded to the inauguration of the new premises of the Presbyteral School of Poirier which has 9 classrooms, an administrative and sanitary block, a fence and a playground. The school operates under the aegis of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit in Haiti for which the Foundation has already built two schools including the launch of the construction of the Petit Séminaire Collège Saint Martial. It was a new start for these students who, in a common voice, thanked the representatives of the Foundation while promising them to keep the space clean and to improve their academic performance.
