Haiti – FLASH : Installation of the new Government (video speech of the PM)
Tuesday at the Prime Minister’s Office in accordance with the decree of July 5, 2021, the Prime Minister, Dr Ariel Henry https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34274-haiti-flash-ariel-henry-prime-minister-of-haiti-official.html have been installed. From the outset, he requested a minute of silence and meditation in memory of the late President Jovenel Moïse, tragically assassinated on the night of July 6 to 7, in his private residence https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34238-haiti-flash-monitoring-of-investigations-into-the-assassination-of-president-jovenel-moise.html , Prime Minister Ariel Henry paid tribute to the Late Head of State.
Stating in his speech “[…] all the culprits, perpetrators and sponsors, should be identified and brought before Haitian justice. I hope that exemplary and dissuasive sentences will be pronounced against them […]”
According to the new Head of Government “the solution to the crisis must come from the Haitians. Everything is negotiable, except democracy, elections and the rule of law.”
He affirmed that in the coming days he would continue his meetings with a view to building a consensus around a political agreement “[…] I come from a school which believes in dialogue as a privileged means of settling disputes, especially in political matter […]”
He intends to lead “a merciless fight against corruption, smuggling and illicit trafficking of all kinds […] for the recovery of the economy and to attract investment to the country and create jobs […]”
Henry assured that one of his priorities was to “restore order and security […] by putting the Police and the army to work so that they “[…] play a leading role in the fight against the insecurity and crime in the country. They must respond effectively to this responsibility conferred on them by law : To guarantee order and public security” and to do this, the new Prime Minister is committed to strengthening the operational capacity of the Haitian National Police.
The elections, the Covid epidemic are also among his priorities
