Haiti – FLASH : New calendar, referendum and elections (official)
On Monday, with a view to the completion of the constitutional referendum and general elections, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) unveiled a new modified schedule, including the various votes.
Sunday, September 26, 2021 is the date chosen for the simultaneous holding of the presidential and legislative elections (Senator and Deputy) and the constitutional referendum.
Before September 26, political parties have until July 6 to register. The electoral campaign, for the first round, should start on August 26th.
The municipal and local elections will take place on January 16, 2022. According to the new calendar, the electoral process will end on February 5, 2022, the date of the publication of the final results of the municipal and local elections.
In addition, the CEP informs that it is working to finalize the draft electoral decree to govern the next electoral competitions. The said decree will be sent to the Executive for publication in the official journal, Le Moniteur.
In order to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, a guide to specific health measures, intended for the use of voters, will be developed and adopted in concert with the Ministry of Public Health.
