Haiti – FLASH : No vaccines in the country before July
According to the Ministry of Public Health, 273 new cases and 9 deaths within 72 hours of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Haiti as of June 14, 2021 (latest partial data available ) for a total of 17,048 cases and 369 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
As of June 14, the total of the 3rd wave (48 days) was 3,725 cases (+ 7.3%) and 104 deaths (+ 9.4%).
For reference in April 2021 (pre-3rd wave, 30 days) 267 new cases and 9 deaths. had been recorded.
NEWS : Haiti, which has not started vaccination against Covid but will be a priority in the arrival of doses in July according to Jarbas Barbosa Deputy Director of the World Organization of Health (WHO). In addition, Andy Levin, Yvette D Clark representatives of the Haitian Caucus in Congress sent a correspondence dated June 16 to Jeffrey Zients Coordinator of the Covid recovery team at the White House asking him to facilitate a rapid donation of vaccines to Haiti.
Note that our Dominican neighbors, who are not dependent on donations, have already injected 6.47 million doses of vaccine into its population.

Suspected case of COVID-19 :
Anyone with a fever greater than or equal to 37.5 degrees Celsius, or with a recent history of fever (within the last 14 days), with or without cough with or without breathing difficulties, body aches, chest pain and unexplained headache. Anyone with a sudden change in taste (dysguesia or ageusia) or smell (hyposmia or anosmia) without associated rhinitis.
In children : all the signs mentioned above plus a deterioration of the general condition, diarrhea or isolated fever, especially in children under 3 months, should be referred to a doctor.
The Ministry of Health recommends to the population, the scrupulous respect of barrier gestures in general the systematic washing of hands, the respect of the physical distance 1.50m between people and the compulsory wearing of the mask in public places and in particular:
- Always cough or sneeze into your sleeves or elbow, never into the other’s face or hands;
- Use paper tissues to wipe your hands or face and then throw them in the trash and wash your hands afterwards;
- Wash your hands frequently with soap or alcoholic water. It is also possible to use a “sanitizer”;
- Avoid contact with anyone with flu-like illness and invite them to seek treatment;
- Avoid contact with vulnerable people if you are sick;
- Avoid greetings like handshakes and kisses;
- Avoid touching your nose, eyes and mouth if you have not washed your hands;
- Avoid gatherings of people.
