An elite contingent from Kenya next week

According to Todd D. Robinson Assistant Secretary of State for International Affairs, a first contingent of 200 Kenyan police officers should arrive in Port-au-Prince next week. They are elite officers from the Kenyan Police Reconnaissance Unit, the rapid deployment force and the special operations group who fought the terrorist group Al-Shabaab on the border between Kenya and Somalia. According to Kenyan media, this first contingent of the mission in Haiti should leave Kenya for Haiti between May 18 and 22.

The Haitian crisis comparable to that of Gaza

Meeting between the CPT and BINUH

208 earthquakes

208 earthquakes, with magnitudes between 0.9 and 4.4 on the Richter scale, were recorded in Haiti, from January to April 2024, in the country, according to a seismic bulletin from the Bureau of Mines and Energy (BME). “183 had a magnitude less than or equal to 3 (87.9%) and 86 (41.3%) occurred at a depth of 10 km or less.” The two highest magnitudes, recorded during this period, were located at sea in February 2024. One recorded 39 km west of Pointe à Raquette (4.4) on the Île de la Gonâve and the other 3.5 km northeast of Petit Trou de Nippes (4.2).

The CPT requests the cancellation of around forty appointments

Monday, May 13, the Transitional Presidential Council, in a letter addressed to Prime Minister a.i.Michel Patrick Boisvert asks him [without explaining the reasons] to withdraw the appointments of April 25, 2024 which concerns around forty people in Haitian diplomacy.
