Haiti - Politic : More than 230,000 new voters registered in 1 month

On April 8, at a press conference Mathias Pierre, the Minister responsible for electoral matters and relations with political parties gave an update on the process of production and delivery of new National Identification Cards (CIN).

Up to April 8, 2021, 4,346,000 citizens have registered in the ONI system in accordance with applicable standards. Recall that on March 10, 2021 this number was 4,115,042 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33241-haiti-elections-already-more-than-4-million-registered-voters.html . So that’s 230,958 new registrations in one month.

Note that this biometric card is the most reliable that Haiti has ever known since this system does not allow a citizen to vote more than once.

In addition, the Haitian Government is working hard so that the Haitian diaspora can obtain the new National Identification Card https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33454-haiti-diaspora-already-more-than-10-000-haitians-in-dr-have-obtained-the-new-cin.html https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-32594-icihaiti-politic-members-of-the-diaspora-can-get-a-cin-at-port-au-prince-airport.html . Equipment intended for diplomatic missions for the production and delivery of CINs will be operational shortly.
