Haiti – Social : Pope Francis prays for Haiti
For the second time because of the pandemic, Pope Francis celebrated Easter Sunday in front of a symbolic audience who kept a safe distance. He called on the international community to establish a “common commitment” to overcome distribution delays and promote equitable distribution of these drugs, so that they also reach the poorest countries. He recalled that “at the present time, vaccines are an essential tool in this fight.”
Pope Francis prayed for Haiti during the Urbi et Orbi blessing after Easter Mass. He lamented the plight of those affected by war and other conflicts, citing Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the world and which has been rocked by violent protests and political conflicts, including an alleged coup. Pope Francis urged Haitians “not to be overwhelmed by difficulties, but to look to the future with confidence and hope.”
“It is necessary that the poor of all kinds regain hope”, declared Saint John Paul II during his trip to Haiti, reminded François.
