iciHaiti - Cap-Haitien : Residents of streets 2 to 12 will have drinking water in July

Friday June 25, 2021, the members of the Municipal Commission of Cap-Haitien met with Bernadin Poisson, the Regional Director of the National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA) regarding the progress of the project of development of the city’s drinking water supply and sanitation works.

Bernadin Poisson explained the causes and difficulties encountered in the implementation of this project. However, he confirmed that residents of streets 2 to 12, letters A to L will have drinking water in their homes before the end of July. The latter will simply have to go to the DINEPA office to pay the 2,500 Gourdes, which constitute the connection costs.

In addition, Poisson has confirmed for the next month will begin the second phase of the works which must take into account the street 12 to 24 from A to L.

He recalled that most water supply systems are in an advanced state of degradation and that upgrading the sector requires time and resources, adding that with the Covid pandemic, providers of services are sometimes in difficulty.

After these exchanges of information, the municipal administration said it was counting on DINEPA to continue the universal drinking water distribution plan, accessible to all in the three municipal sections before 2024.
