iciHaiti – DR : 136 undocumented Haitians, including 7 pregnant women repatriated to Haiti
Thursday afternoon, agents from the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) during two separate migration control operations arrested a total of 136 Haitians.
71 undocumented Haitians were arrested aboard a truck in Navarrete (northwest of the Dominican Republic), while a few hours earlier 65 other Haitians in an irregular migratory situation had been arrested in the municipality of Moca.
Among the Haitians arrested in Navarrete, there were 11 women who had given birth in the Dominican Republic and 7 pregnant women. The 136 illegal migrants were taken to a reception center for verification and registration, before being escorted back to the Dajabón border, where they were repatriated to Haiti.
This operation was led by Dionisio Cruz, the Deputy Director of the DGM (North Region, based in Santiago) were supported by soldiers of the Dominican army under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel José Luis Rodríguez.
