iciHaiti - Japan : Donation of 6,100 tons of rice

Friday April 29, as part of the Food Cooperation (KR) project initiated in 1986, the Japanese Ambassador accredited to Haiti, Mitsuaki Mizuno participated in the ceremony for the presentation of a donation of rice to the food storage center of Monetization office located at Port Lafiteau (Cabaret), in the company of Fils-Aimé Ignace Saint Fleur, Director General of the Office of Monetization of Development Assistance Programs (BMPAD).

This donation of 6,100 metric tonnes (50% of Japanese rice and 50% of US rice) at a cost of US $3.67 million was made available to the Government of Haiti by Japan.

This rice will be sold at a preferential price by BMPAD, which will help stabilize prices, improve access to basic food on the local market and the funds generated will be used to carry out socio-economic projects for the benefit of the population across the national territory.
